His first performance, initiated by Grandma Snook, at her church gathering at age 6 performing “He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands”. Not growing up with Southern Gospel, he credits his mother-in-law, Grandmother Rose, with introducing him to his new calling and current position as Tenor with the Quartet. Mike was raised in a Full Gospel church. Like most kids in that environment, he participated in all the church children's musicals. At the age of 10 he began learning to play the trumpet. As an adult he played trumpet in the church orchestra, sang in the adult choir, participated in many small instrumental and singing groups. Now, retired he still loves to spread and encourage the "Good News" of Jesus, to others, through God's awesome gift of music.
